About Us

The Training Institute is part of The National Development and Research Institutes, Inc. (NDRI). NDRI is a tax exempt, not for profit organization established in 1967 to conduct research, training, outreach, prevention, and technical assistance focusing on HIV-related issues and chemical abuse.

The Training Institute provides cutting edge training for staff working in the substance abuse, HIV/AIDS, mental health, and related fields. We service providers through our array of grant-funded and fee-for service programs throughout the New York metropolitan region, nationally and internationally.

We specialize in reaching providers who service traditionally hard-to-reach and vulnerable target populations such as racial/ethnic and sexual minorities. Working directly with researchers at NDRI, The TI provides a unique opportunity to disseminate research results to a wide audience by incorporating them directly into our course materials. We are also a certified educational provider for the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services - Certified Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor CASAC credentialing.
