AIDS Institute

Suggested Trainings

Regional Training Centers (RTC) conduct the courses listed below. NDRI, Inc. is under contract with the NYS Department of Health - AIDS Institute as an RTC to offer courses to individuals residing or working in the following counties: Bronx, Queens, Kings, Richmond, and Manhattan. The programs are also offered across the state. To register for suggested trainings go to www.hivtrainingny.org.

Trainings for People Delivering HIV Testing: Although the following courses are not required in in New York State, we suggest that people who wish to successfully, accurately and sensitively conduct HIV test counseling would greatly benefit from taking the 'HIV Testing in NYS' course (to become updated on the new streamlined guidelines or for those just starting this type of work) and the 'HIV Testing Skills Practice Session' (for those who are just starting to test).

Trainings for HIV/AIDS Patient Navigators, HOME care model workers:

Although the following courses are not required we suggest that people who wish to successfully, accurately and sensitively provide case management services to HIV consumers would greatly benefit from taking the following sequence of courses:

  • Basic Information about Domestic Violence
  • Building Bridges to Cultural Proficiency
  • Enhancing the Partnership Between Client and Case Manager
  • HIV Disclosure: Deciding Who and When to Tell
  • HIV/AIDS Confidentiality Law
  • Introduction to Case Management
  • Overview of HIV Infection and AIDS
  • Serving Families: From Assessments to Service Plans

The Training Institute of NDRI Visits the White House!

On May 16, 2012, Rabin Martin and NDRI's Training Institute representatives met with leaders of the Office of National AIDS Policy, including Grant Colfax, the newly appointed ONAP Director and Gregg Millett, CDC/HHS Liaison to the White House Office of National AIDS Policy to discuss the new 'Bridge2Care' electronic intervention.
